When Rishabh Pant scored 41 runs against the Lucknow Super Giants, he achieved an important run-scoring milestone.
Rishabh Pant: Third-Youngest Player to Reach 3000 IPL Runs
The captain of the Delhi Capitals, Rishabh Pant, reached a fantastic milestone on Friday when he became the third-youngest player to reach three thousand runs in the Indian Premier League. In his team’s second victory of the year against the Lucknow Super Giants, the left-hander produced an incredible 41 runs off of 24 balls. The 2020 runners-up also moved up from the bottom of the rankings to the ninth slot with this win.
With the last delivery of the 12th over, Pant reached the milestone when he hit Marcus Stoinis for a four. He demonstrated an impressive range of shots, such as his leg play and scoops over third man. After Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli, the skipper of DC was the third-youngest player to surpass 30,000 runs.
Fascinatingly, among the 25 hitters who have scored more than 3,000 runs, he has the third-highest strike rate (148.4), only behind AB De Villiers (151.68) and Chris Gayle (148.96).
The top-youngest players in IPL history to have accomplished this feat are listed below:
Shubman Gill, aged 24 and 215d; Virat Kohli, aged 26 and 186d; Rishabh Pant, aged 26 and 191d; Sanju Samson, aged 27 and 161d; Suresh Raina, aged 27 and 161d
DC wins their second game of the year.
After Kuldeep Yadav returned, the DC bowlers did a good job of dismantling the LSG batting lineup at 94/7 with three wickets taken. But teenager Ayush Badoni’s bravery—scoring 55 off 35 deliveries—helped the Super Giants put up a respectable 167/7 total on the board.
The DC hitters took over at that point and led this run-chase without any problems. In the seventh over, having lost both of their openers at 63 runs, rookie Jake Fraser-McGurk teamed up with Rishabh Pant to register his first-ever IPL half-century. Fraser-McGurk hit four fours and five sixes in his 55 runs for 35 balls. Meanwhile, KL Rahul stumped Rishabh Pant off a ball from Ravi Bishnoi as he was very close to his half-century at 41.
Nevertheless, the pair had contributed to making sure DC would easily meet the objective; they also became the first team to overcome Lucknow this year by successfully pursuing a total of more than 160 runs.
